My Comment:

There's a simple solution to this problem. Everybody in this country should be REQUIRED to wear an American flag pin! I'm pretty sure that this idea is already in the planning stages...when was the last time you saw a photograph of a congress-person who didn't have an American flag on his or her lapel? Remember the flack that was generated when candidate Barrack HUSSEIN Obama didn't wear a flag-pin at one of the debates (and NOW look at what we've got...a MUSLIM president...and a black one at that!).

We could start the policy with children in school. Since they go to institutions funded by American tax dollars...then by God, they should be thankful for the privilege and wear a Flag! People who want to use public transportation (subsidized by American tax dollars) shouldn't be allowed on the bus without a Flag! Drive on our highways? Flag! Visit our libraries? Flag! Walk down our sidewalks? Flag! Go to a game at our sports stadiums? Flag! Visit a national cemetery? Two Flags!

The exception to this rule should be the churches...which are tax-exempt and shouldn't be forced to do what We The People dictate. Of course, if the churches truly worship Jesus, they should ban anyone who doesn't wear a WWJD bracelet.

Whenever I see pictures of North Korean citizens proudly posing with their little Kim Il-Sung lapel pins, it just BURNS ME UP! Look at how patriotic THEY are! Why can't OUR citizens be proud of their own country in a similar manner?!?! Surely, if citizens from some backwards little country like North Korea can manage to muster up a bit of patriotism, then we can, too!

How Others Responded:

Thank you, dotyrs, for that rapier wit. I think you left out "Go to the bathroom~~Flag toilet paper!" and "Make love with your wife~do it on Flag sheets!"

It never fails to amaze me though, how so many dullards cannot make the leap from "The land of the free..." to the freedom to disagree without shoving some group into servitude.

I think there must be something in the water that is causing general mental retardation, judging by the resurgence of ignorance, stupidity, and blind allegiance.

Time Magazine Article on 100th Anniversary of Titanic Sinking

What I wrote as a comment:

I think that everybody can agree that the Titanic sank under very mysterious circumstances and that every effort should be made to find out what happened. For the past 100 years, we've been fed the line that the ship hit an iceberg that caused a rupture in the hull that lead to the sinking. This is exactly what the Taft administration wanted us to believe to divert our attention from the real cause. The Titanic was sunk by a bomb sneaked aboard by a Persian operative dressed as a German tourist. The hope was that the U.S. would blame the innocent Germans, declare war on them a few years later, punish them with an impossible-to-pay war debt resulting in yet another war ending with the establishment of the state of Israel and the persecution of the Palestinians (a former Persian people). This would lead to turmoil in the Middle East and ultimately lead to the attacks on the U.S. on 9/11, invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq. Eventually, the TSA would be established to prevent bombs from being smuggled aboard public transportation and the U.S. would end up as a police state. All of this was clearly prophesied in the Bible, and raising the Titanic would provide the proof needed. Anyone against the raising of the Titanic is towing the current administration's line and is anti-Christian, anti-American, and probably a Mormon.

How people responded:

Lee Gunn

Who told you all that? You didn't read it in a book....at least not a history book.
You expect people to belive the Titantic was prophesised in the bible? Over 2,000 years ago? They had concepts of police states? 9/11 in America? in the middle east 2,000 years ago? I mean, really? :(

Cameron Tevis

Whoa. The beginning part had some interesting conspiracy elements that mightve been worth exploring. Then you totally killed any credibility you had by the end of your statement. Gunn and I may disagree about whether or not to bring the artifacts up, but I have to agree with him on his conclusions to your post

Stevi Ragland

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, right, right, wrong, wrong. :]

Dennis Hastings

I like it! Especially all the people who thought you were serious. Nice.

Uhm, if you thought the above post was meant to be serious, then your sense of humor must be at the bottom of the ocean as well... :)

People are Gullible...

I am constantly amazed by what people will believe. When folks ask what I do for a living, I sometimes tell them that I'm a professional sumo wrestler - Tokyo welterweight division - but I'm on disability because of significant weight loss caused by my skin becoming lighter as I age. In reality, I've always been average weight (OK, maybe a *little* pudgy around the middle) and my skin is naturally pale as a result of my Irish genetics. If I tell this whopper with a straight face and serious tone, I've never once been questioned!

My pasty skin doesn't do me any favors outdoors in the summer, and I sometimes get sunburned. Inevitably, someone will ask, "Have you been out in the sun?" If this question is asked by a darker-skinned person who might not have experienced sunburn firsthand, they get a pass and I tell them the truth. But when a fellow pasty-white person with a name like "Patrick O'Kelly" asks me this question, I tell them, "No! I was mopping the kitchen floor on Saturday and was warming up a cup of coffee in the microwave. I didn't realize that the oven door wasn't completely shut...and now look at me! I've got microwave burns! The doctor says I should be OK in a couple of days!" And people have nodded their heads "knowingly!"

I'm a news-junkie, and I regularly visit all kinds of online news outlets...CNN, MSNBC, my local newspaper, etc. I love reading the comments that my fellow Internet surfers compose in response to the articles they've read. Some of these people are absolutely nuts with their conspiracy theories and weird beliefs. I've often wondered if other people actually believe these rantings. I started to ask myself how much bunk can be written...how much bold-faced craziness can be composed...before someone realizes that the writer is either completely insane or totally full of bullshit? Can people make the distinction, or will they simply accept any outrageous comments as legitimate?

To answer this question, I've started posting my own thoughts in various places around the 'net. My comments will offend some, outrage others, be mocked and ridiculed by many, and sometimes quietly erased by blog administrators. I have hope that some people will catch on and "call me out."

I don't know where this is all heading. Let's just have some fun and see what happens...
